Introduction
Swedish concrete metal band NERVED celebrates its 20th anniversary this year since the release of the album "off line" in 2004. With their unique sound and mix of styles, they have attracted a lot of attention. Despite sparse appearances over the years, they have shared festival stages with Korn, Opeth, Mastodon, Devin Townsend, Sabaton and Candlemass among others. They've even toured with legends Nazareth. Fans of Rammstein, Clawfinger, Within Temptation and Muse will not be disappointed by this Swedish supergroup whose live performances are second to none.
Kompromat – NERVED
With Kompromat, NERVED present their fourth studio album – a record shaped by tension, contrast and a deliberate reconstruction of their own past.
Rather than looking back, Kompromat reframes it. The album brings together re-recorded and reworked material from the band’s early catalogue, primarily Offline (2004) and Finally Nerved (2008), now rebuilt with the weight, precision and sonic identity NERVED have developed over time. Alongside this comes new material, including the track I Rise, adding a forward momentum to the release.
The result is not a compilation, but a cohesive album where everything exists in the same landscape – darker, heavier and more defined.
Musically, Kompromat moves in the space between industrial drive and organic force. Massive guitars and mechanical rhythms meet electronic textures, cinematic arrangements and choir elements, creating a sound that is both controlled and expansive.
At the center stands Petra Kvännå, whose vocal performance carries the album with intensity and range – from restrained tension to full-scale power. Around her, a lineup of guest artists from the Scandinavian hard rock and metal scene adds further dimension, including Zak Tell, Thobbe Englund, Jens Westin and the Russian rapper MAD-A.
The title Kompromat, borrowed from Russian intelligence slang referring to compromising material, reflects the album’s underlying theme – exposure, tension and the interplay between control and vulnerability.
Produced with a high level of sonic detail and clarity, Kompromat captures NERVED at a point where identity is no longer being formed, but asserted.
This is not a retrospective. It’s a reconstruction.
